Lint traps cleaning

Book service

What is it?

A specialized holding tank used in commercial establishments to remove excessive amounts of lint and silt which could interfere with proper drainage of waste water. Typical applications include commercial laundromats, dry-cleaners and apartment complexes. The effleunt from these facilities usually contain exessive qunatites of lint, silt and other debreis that will build up in your pipes over time and cause huge plumbing nightmares.

What does it do?

A lint trap intercepts the liquid lint-silt laden water and retains it for a sufficient amount of time to allow cool down and promote the separation (fall-out) of the lint/’silt.

How does it work?

The trap contains several compartments where the lint coagulates and floats to the surface and heavier solids sink to the bottom. As a gallon of wastewater comes in to the trap it forces a “processed” gallon out. This gallon that leaves should be free of contaminant (lint silt etc.) Traps are sized by the number of washing machines that are in the facility attached to the lint trap or holding tank. These plumbing codes are available by either contacting your city or the plumbing contractor you currently use. (call us if you need one 713-868-1171)

Why Clean it?

The most important key to the successful operation of the lint trap is your maintenance program. The trap should be cleaned (pumped out) routinely to prevent the escape of large quantities of lint/silt. The City of Houston requires mandatory quarterly cleanings and imposes fines for non-compliance.  Keep in mind if you are a heavy user of your machines or add more machines you may need to evacuate your traps more frequently. Keep in mind your lint trap is only as good as your maintenance program ! Keep in mind, when you look in a lint trap you should see water your waste will be building up at the bottom of your trap.(lint sinks over time)
